IT Applications Manager, Group Data Scientist, Service Technician at d.light

1. IT Applications Manager

Reporting to:   Head of Development and Delivery
Job Tier Level:

Position Description
The incumbent will provide delivery and second level technical support for all the business applications including but not limited to Oracle ADW, Atlas, NetSuite etc

R&Rs

  • Work with the Regional Project Manager to deliver on all strategic projects on time and budget
  • API design, documentation and testing in the VI market
  • Create automated scripts/dumps that log network activity for alerts, scheduled restarts of networks and business applications
  • Design, develop and deploy the necessary DB’s and applications required for business systems in the VI market
  • Create BI reports for business units
  • Configuration and administration of Oracle NetSuite ERP
  • User support for business and analysis software installation and debugging
  • Support, upgrade, monitor and co-ordinate changes to the website/web-portal and partner webportals
  • Document learnings, processes, self-service guides and associated remedies to common faults for IT library

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications or related field
  • 5 years Relevant work Experience
  • Experience in Business Requirements gathering and analysis
  • Certifications in SDLC, Agile, BI, R or DevOps
  • Certification in Database Administration or Development

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in Project Management
  • Good understanding of current IT security and Data protection standards
  • Good understanding of Cloud and mobile technology
  • Experience with Programming and Scripting Languages (Python Preferred) C++, Java, C#, or C is a plus
  • Excellent customer facing skill set with ability to work with potential clients to develop technical work scopes for incorporation into project proposals

2. Group Data Scientist

Reporting to:  Director of Technology
Secondary Reporting: Group Strategy Director
Job Tier Level:  Head of Department

Purpose

We are looking for a Data Scientist whwill support our product, sales, leadership and marketing teams with insights gained from analyzing company and external data. The ideal candidate will be adept at using large data sets tfind opportunities for product and process optimization and using models ttest the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. They must be broad minded with a proven ability tdrive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets collected within and without the company and not limited in nature or source

R&Rs

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization tidentify opportunities for leveraging company data tdrive business solutions.
  • Identity, recruit and lead a team of highly skilled data engineers and analysts with a global mandate
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases tdrive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms tapply tdata sets.
  • Use predictive modeling tincrease and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  • Develop d.light testing framework and test model quality.
  • Coordinate with different functional and OpCteams timplement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools tmonitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • 5 or more years’ Experience with Oracle Analytics or related tools
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) tmanipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive tlearn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • 5-7 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models,
  • University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field, and is familiar with the following software/tools:
  • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C, C++, Java,
  • JavaScript, etc
  •  Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenarianalysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
  • Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.

3. Service Technician

Direct Reporting to:   Service Center Manager
Dotted Reporting to:  Aftersales Manager Kenya

Position Description The job holder will be expected to provide product service and customer support at d.light’s service centers and / or during field service visits and manage all repair, maintenance and test tasks assigned by the service centers manager or that come to the service center.

Diagnose errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions support on all d. light’s products and deliver exceptional service to our customers. The job holder will have to be highly in tune with the solar technology and mobile phone repair.

R&Rs

  • Work with the service teams to identify and undertake all required product repair activities in accordance with the relevant specifications and set standards, on schedule.
  • Provide service and customer support at the service center and / or during field service visits
  • Manage all repair, maintenance and test tasks for d. light’s customers at the service center
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
  • Document repair / service processes on Atlas or any other platform provided by d.light
  • Follow all company’s service procedures and protocols
  • Cooperate with other technical team members and share information across the organisation
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations / briefings
  • Ensure top standard customer service at all times
  • Meet service center operation’s targets. (100%)
  • 100% timely utilization of and accurate data capture on d.light’s Service Platform (Atlas)
  • Spare parts and refurbishment stock management at service center • Repeat repair ratio of less than 3%
  • Supporting 100% d.light’s service centers through technician training or any other relevant support as assigned by the service center manager

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in electronics or electricals
  • Minimum 1-year experience in solar PV industry.
  • Both solar and mobile phone repair experience will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives
  • Strong mindset for continuous improvement and meeting or exceeding expectations and able to demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills (multiple language will be an advantage), with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy
