Assistant Investment Manager at Britam Kenya

The Job Purpose is to provide support to the investment department and managing client portfolios as per mandate. The job holder will report to the Investment Manager and will be based in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a perspective on current and future economic conditions and industry trends
  2. Assess potential investment opportunities across traditional and non- traditional asset classes
  3. Generate ad hoc reports as necessary for presentations to internal and external stakeholders
  4. Support new business acquisition.
  5. Attend and present at clients’ board of trustee and annual general meetings Actively contribute towards coming up with superior asset allocation and security selection decisions.
  6. Construct and rebalance portfolios
  7. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
  8. Delegated Authority: As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Knowledge and applied professional understanding of fund management principles and practices of institutional investment management,
  • Knowledge of capital markets
  • Portfolio analysis
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Report writing and presentation skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or related field
  • 4 – 6 years’ experience in fund management with hands on exposure to equities, interest bearing assets, 2 of which must be in a supervisory capacity
  • At least CFA level 1 qualification
  • Member of relevant professional body
